BigHorn Trip

Thursday, May 14th, 2009

Guys: Just back from the Bighorn. I managed to select three days when they were testing the new automated gates on Bighorn Dam. Consequently, the water levels were fluctuating daily from 1500 to 4500 cfs, which really dirtied the water with debris, and put the trout down. This was the worst trip I have ever had on the ‘Horn. I hooked only 3 fish the first day, none the second, and about a dozen the third day. They would not take Otter’s Eggs, which was a big disappointment. All they wanted were dries for the Baetis hatches, and the small #20 Wonder Nymph, which is a baetis nymph pattern. Tough on the Old Otter this trip!
